Spurs extend winning run to close gap on Thunder

The San Antonio Spurs extended their winning streak to 10 games with a 110-107 victory over the Toronto Raptors, closing the gap on Western Conference leaders the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Devin Vassell scored 21 points and De’Aaron Fox added 20 as the Spurs secured their longest winning run since the 2015-16 season.

Victor Wembanyama was limited to 12 points but made a decisive impact defensively, producing five blocks — including a crucial rejection with 44 seconds remaining. Dylan Harper added 15 points off the bench as San Antonio improved to 42-16.

The Thunder, now 45-15, saw their advantage trimmed after defeat on the road.

Thunder slip as Pistons take league’s best record

The Thunder were beaten 124-116 by the Eastern Conference-leading Detroit Pistons.

Cade Cunningham and Jalen Duren scored 29 points apiece for Detroit, who improved to 43-14 — the best record in the NBA. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander missed a ninth straight game through injury.

The Boston Celtics remain second in the East after a 103-84 loss to the Denver Nuggets, with Nikola Jokic contributing 30 points and 12 rebounds.

The Milwaukee Bucks edged the Cleveland Cavaliers 118-116 despite the continued absence of Giannis Antetokounmpo with a calf injury.

The Houston Rockets recorded their biggest win of the season, defeating the Sacramento Kings 128-97, while the Golden State Warriors claimed a 133-112 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies.

With San Antonio surging and Oklahoma City faltering, the race for top spot in the Western Conference is tightening.
