Broadfield Stadium, Crawley : Chelsea Women returned to winning ways in the Women’s Super League with a composed 3–0 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion, ending a brief winless run following their first league defeat in more than a year.
Managed by Sonia Bompastor, Chelsea controlled the contest from the outset and were rewarded just before half-time when Sandy Baltimore broke the deadlock, giving the visitors a deserved lead at the interval.
Brighton’s task became more difficult early in the second half when defender Caitlin Hayes inadvertently turned the ball into her own net while attempting to clear a Chelsea cross, doubling the visitors’ advantage. Chelsea maintained their dominance and sealed the result late on as Alyssa Thompson finished clinically to make it 3–0.
The win was a timely response after Chelsea’s 1–0 defeat to Everton the previous weekend, which had brought an end to their 34-match unbeaten run in the WSL, a sequence stretching back to May 2024.
Chelsea’s performance at Broadfield Stadium underlined their resilience and attacking depth, keeping them firmly in contention at the top end of the Women’s Super League table.
