Jagsher Singh Khangurra Claims Bronze At BWF World Juniors
India’s Jagsher Singh Khangurra secured the bronze medal in boys’ singles at the BWF World Junior Championships after losing his semifinal against Indonesia’s Radithya Bayu Wardhana in Cairo on Friday.
Khangurra fought back after dropping the opening game but could not maintain his momentum in the decider, going down 6-15, 15-13, 3-15 in a 49-minute contest.
Wardhana’s Stamina Proves Decisive
The Indian shuttler acknowledged that his opponent’s stamina and attacking ability made the difference, particularly in the deciding game.
“The match was really hard. The Indonesian guy had great stamina and really good strokes. We were playing good rallies, but I was not able to convert them,” Khangurra said after the match.
He added that fatigue began to affect him after around eight points in the third game, allowing Wardhana to take control.
Khangurra also identified his slow start, patience and attacking play as areas for improvement, while describing his first World Junior Championships appearance as a valuable learning experience.
India Takes Individual Championships Medal Tally To 13
Khangurra’s bronze is India’s seventh in the individual World Junior Championships, taking the country’s overall medal tally at the event to 13, including one gold and five silver medals.
The youngster said improving his stamina and developing a more attacking game would be among his key takeaways from the tournament.
