Phil Foden continues to write his own story at Manchester City. On Wednesday night against Crystal Palace, the England international became the sixth player in club history to register 100 or more goal involvements in the Premier League.
Foden’s two assists in City’s 3-0 victory took his tally to 68 goals and 33 assists since breaking into the first team in 2017 — a remarkable achievement for a homegrown talent.
He now joins an illustrious list that includes Sergio Agüero (231 involvements), Kevin De Bruyne (190), David Silva (153), Raheem Sterling (133), and Erling Haaland (130).
The 26-year-old was at his creative best once again, setting up Antoine Semenyo and Omar Marmoush with moments of quick thinking and precise execution in the first half. His performance came on a night when City took a big step in keeping their title hopes alive.
Guardiola couldn’t hide his admiration for his midfielder-turned-creative-force. He praised Foden’s ability to produce something special when games become tight and tactical.
With the season reaching its climax and a crucial FA Cup final just days away, Foden’s form could prove vital for City as they chase silverware on two fronts.
