Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has stayed coy on the persistent rumours linking the club with Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland.
In the same wide-ranging interview with La Sexta, Perez was asked about the possibility of bringing the Norwegian goal machine to the Santiago Bernabeu. His response was classic Florentino — proud of the club’s history of signing superstars, yet careful to distance himself from specific transfer talk.
“We have always signed the best,” he said, recalling big-name arrivals like Figo, Kaka, Ronaldo, and Beckham. “When there is a good one, I go for him.”
However, when Haaland’s name came up directly, Perez quickly passed the ball: “Haaland? I do not give an opinion on that. It is a job for the sporting management; I do not get involved.”
The 26-year-old Haaland remains one of world football’s most lethal strikers, boasting an incredible 161 goals and 29 assists for City since joining in 2022. Despite signing a contract extension until 2034 with the Premier League side, speculation about a potential move to Madrid refuses to die down.
Perez also dismissed rumours of Jose Mourinho making a sensational return as the next coach, saying he had not even spoken to the Portuguese manager.
