Brisbane Lions midfielder Lachie Neale has made an emotional admission about life away from his children following his separation from wife Jules, revealing the personal toll of the high-profile split.
Speaking ahead of his landmark 300th AFL game, Neale acknowledged the difficulty of being separated from his young kids, who now live in Perth with their mother. He admitted that not having them around daily has been one of the toughest aspects of the situation, describing the distance as emotionally challenging.
Despite the separation, Neale emphasised that the co-parenting arrangement remains positive. He expressed gratitude that he is able to travel frequently to see his children and occasionally have them visit him, crediting the flexibility between him and Jules for making the situation manageable.
The split, which became public in late 2025, followed allegations of infidelity that triggered significant media attention and personal upheaval. Neale later admitted he had “let people down,” using the experience as a moment of reflection while trying to rebuild both his personal and professional life.
Amid the turmoil, football has served as a crucial outlet. Neale described the game as therapeutic, helping him cope with the emotional strain while maintaining strong performances for Brisbane.
There is also uncertainty surrounding his future, with the star not ruling out a move back to Western Australia to be closer to his children once his current contract ends.
While Neale continues to shine on the field, his candid confession highlights a deeply personal battle off it—balancing elite sport with the realities of family separation and fatherhood.
