The search for a first home victory of the season takes centre stage when Kerala Blasters FC host NorthEast United FC in the Indian Super League at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Wednesday.

Kerala Blasters finally have a result to build on. A hard-earned 2-1 away win over Bengaluru FC last weekend delivered their first victory of the campaign and injected much-needed belief into a squad that had struggled to convert performances into points in the early rounds. Yet, the bigger concern remains their form in Kochi, where the Blasters are still chasing their first success of the season in front of their home support.

The victory on the road was as much about character as it was about points. It snapped a difficult run and suggested a growing tactical stability and fighting spirit within the side. Now, the challenge is to translate that resilience into a commanding display at home, where dropped points have defined their season so far.

NorthEast United arrive with their own inconsistencies to address. The Highlanders have shown flashes of organisation but have found sustained momentum elusive. Their recent setbacks have left them eager to avoid another stumble, especially away from home where defensive discipline will be crucial against a Kerala side buoyed by renewed confidence.

This fixture carries weight beyond three points. Both teams are positioned in the lower half of the table, and the outcome could influence how the relegation battle shapes up as the league progresses. For Kerala Blasters, a win would not only end their home drought but also mark the first signs of a genuine turnaround. For NorthEast United, a positive result would reinforce their reputation as a side capable of frustrating opponents on their own turf.

With pressure mounting and confidence fragile on both sides, the contest in Kochi promises to be a tense, tactical affair where margins could decide the evening.
