Pune-based motorsports champion, Sarthak Chavan, etched history on Sunday by becoming the first Indian to be leading the Asia Road Racing Championship at TVS International Cup. He finished second in full rain at Sepang International Circuit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
He has established himself as a force to be reckoned with in the world of motorcycle racing. Until this race, he had 23 podium finishes, including 18 first-place victories.
He had scripted history as the first Indian to secure a podium finish in the Asia Road Racing Championship’s TVS Asia One earlier. His journey began over a decade ago, sparked by his father’s passion for racing.
His early success came in 2012 when he won the Gulf Autocross in Mumbai, marking the start of his illustrious career. He later became the youngest Indian national champion in the Pro Stock 301–400cc Open category.
The FIM Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) is the premier regional motorcycle road racing series for Asia, which has been crowning champions since 1996.
