Jannik Sinner delivered a brilliant performance to defeat Daniil Medvedev and win his maiden title at the Indian Wells Open, joining legends Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic in an exclusive ATP Masters 1000 club.
The Italian beat the Russian 7–6(6), 7–6(4) in a high-quality final where both players held their nerves in long rallies and intense baseline exchanges.
The match was decided by fine margins. After edging the first set in a tie-break, Sinner faced trouble in the second when Medvedev raced to a 4–0 lead in the tie-break. But the Italian staged a remarkable comeback, winning seven consecutive points to seal the championship.
With the victory, the 24-year-old completed a rare feat — becoming only the third player to win all six ATP Masters 1000 tournaments played on hard courts, a milestone previously achieved only by Federer and Djokovic.
Sinner also lifted the trophy without dropping a set throughout the tournament, underlining his growing dominance on the surface.
“Daniil is always very tough to play against. I just tried to stay calm and play my game,” Sinner said after the match.
Medvedev, who had earlier defeated Carlos Alcaraz in the semifinals, once again fell short of capturing the elusive Indian Wells crown.
For Sinner, however, the victory confirmed his rise as one of the leading forces in men’s tennis — and another step toward tennis greatness.
