Bryson DeChambeau secured a dramatic victory at the LIV Golf Singapore after defeating Canadian wildcard Richard T. Lee in a tense play-off at Sentosa Golf Club. The American golfer clinched his fourth LIV Golf title after both players finished tied at 14 under par.
Play-off drama decides the title
DeChambeau and Lee headed into the play-off after a tightly contested final round. Lee had surged into contention with four birdies in his last six holes, setting the clubhouse target at 14 under.
The play-off began with DeChambeau hitting his tee shot into the water on the 18th hole, immediately giving Lee a strong advantage. However, the American produced a remarkable recovery shot, hitting a 300-yard three wood to keep his chances alive.
Lee played cautiously but failed to capitalise on the opportunity. After missing a short par putt, DeChambeau held his nerve to seal the victory and celebrate a memorable win.
DeChambeau ends long wait for victory
The triumph marked DeChambeau’s first title since winning an event in South Korea last year. The 32-year-old described the play-off as one of the most intense moments of his career.
Despite the pressure, he managed to recover from the early mistake and produce one of the most dramatic finishes of the tournament.
The win also earned DeChambeau a prize of $4 million from the tournament’s $20 million individual purse.
Lee impresses despite heartbreak
Although he fell short in the play-off, Richard T. Lee produced an impressive performance throughout the event. The Canadian’s runner-up finish is the best result ever achieved by a wildcard in a LIV Golf tournament.
Lee earned $2.25 million for finishing second and admitted the missed putt in the play-off was difficult to accept after such a strong week.
England’s Lee Westwood finished third on 12 under par, while Chile’s Joaquin Niemann and Spain’s Jon Rahm also featured among the leading contenders.
DeChambeau’s victory adds another milestone to his LIV Golf career and underlines his ability to handle pressure in high-stakes moments.
