London: Former heavyweight world champion Tyson Fury will come out of retirement to face Russian contender Arslanbek Makhmudov at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on 11 April, with the bout set to be broadcast on Netflix.
The 37-year-old Briton has not fought since his rematch defeat to unified champion Oleksandr Usyk in December 2024. Fury announced his retirement a month after losing the second of two back-to-back clashes for the undisputed heavyweight championship.
However, in January, Fury confirmed his return to the ring, setting up a showdown with the 36-year-old Makhmudov, who has won 21 of his 23 professional bouts. The Russian-born fighter, now based in Canada, was widely tipped for a high-profile clash after his impressive victory over British heavyweight Dave Allen last October.
A media conference is scheduled for Monday, 16 February, at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium — the same venue where Fury last fought in the UK in December 2022, when he defeated Derek Chisora for the third time to retain his WBC heavyweight title.
Since that win, Fury has fought three times in Saudi Arabia. He secured a split-decision victory over former UFC champion Francis Ngannou in October 2023 before suffering consecutive points defeats to Usyk in May and December 2024. Usyk’s victories made him the first undisputed heavyweight champion of the four-belt era.
Now, Fury’s comeback sets the stage for another high-stakes chapter in the heavyweight division, as he looks to reassert himself on home soil.
