Milwaukee Bucks coach Doc Rivers has said there was a sense of relief in the camp after Giannis Antetokounmpo stayed with the team following the trade deadline, ending weeks of speculation about his future.
Relief In The Locker Room
Rivers revealed that players were visibly happy once it was confirmed that the two time MVP would not be traded. He said the atmosphere in training lifted instantly and the squad felt united again.
Injury Update Encouraging
Antetokounmpo has been sidelined since January after suffering a calf strain and has played only 30 games this season. According to Rivers, he is close to returning, has been working out regularly, and is looking sharp in training sessions.
Team Struggles Without Star
The Bucks have struggled in Giannis absence, winning only six of 20 matches without him. With him in the lineup, they have claimed 15 victories from 30 games, underlining his importance to the side.
Strong Individual Season
Despite limited appearances, Antetokounmpo is averaging 30 points, 10 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game with a shooting success rate of 65 percent. His performances have earned him a tenth straight NBA All Star selection.
Focus On Playoff Push
Milwaukee currently sit 12th in the Eastern Conference, three wins behind the final playoff spot. With Giannis nearing full fitness, the Bucks will hope his return can spark a late surge towards postseason qualification.
