VISAKHAPATNAM : In a high-octane encounter at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, New Zealand posted a competitive total against India in the 4th T20I, with explosive batting from keeper-batter Tim Seifert and a composed response from Mark Chapman and Daryl Mitchell under lights in Visakhapatnam.
Electing to field first after winning the toss, India once again looked to leverage their bowling strength in conditions that have favoured skittish starts earlier in the series.
Seifert Sets the Tone
Seifert was the standout figure for the Black Caps, smashing boundaries at will and dominating any loose deliveries he could reach. Riding a brisk 60-plus score, his aggressive play helped NZ accelerate early and keep the scoreboard ticking at a strong clip. One onlooker in the press box noted, “Seifert’s timing tonight has been sensational — you feel every ball could be gone.”
After Seifert’s dismissal, Chapman and Mitchell shepherded the innings masterfully, ensuring NZ didn’t lose too much momentum. Their calm approach mixed with calculated aggression allowed New Zealand to push toward what could be a competitive total on a pitch that has regularly rewarded batters.
For India, the focus now shifts to a disciplined chase — one made easier by their commanding 3–0 lead in the 5-match series. With batters like Abhishek Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan in scintillating form throughout the tour, India remains the favourites.
What’s Next?
A big partnership or quick wickets early in the chase could define the match — and with the T20 World Cup looming, both sides are keen to finish the series with confidence.
