Shrachi Bengal Tigers Beat SG Pipers In Sudden Death To Qualify For Women’s Hero HIL Final

Ranchi: Shrachi Bengal Tigers sealed their place in the Women’s Hero Hockey India League final after edging past SG Pipers in a dramatic shootout encounter at the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium. The league match ended goalless in regulation time before the Tigers prevailed 7-6 in sudden death to secure a crucial bonus point.
Goalless Battle In Regulation Time
Both teams displayed disciplined defence and tactical awareness throughout the match, resulting in a tightly contested 0-0 scoreline at the end of regulation. Shrachi Bengal Tigers enjoyed periods of sustained pressure and earned multiple penalty corners, but SG Pipers’ goalkeeper produced a series of sharp saves to keep the scores level. The Pipers, in turn, created chances on the counter but were unable to convert.
Shootout Drama Decides The Contest
With no goals separating the sides, the match was decided by a shootout. The initial round ended in a deadlock, pushing the contest into sudden death. In a high-pressure finish, the Tigers showed greater composure, converting their chances with precision, while SG Pipers narrowly missed out. The 7-6 shootout win handed the Tigers the bonus point they needed to confirm their place in the final.
Final Berth Secured
The victory ensured Shrachi Bengal Tigers’ qualification for the Women’s Hero HIL final, where they will once again face SG Pipers in a title clash. Despite the shootout loss, SG Pipers had already booked their spot in the final based on their league standings.
All Eyes On The Title Clash
With both finalists confirmed, anticipation now builds for the Women’s Hero Hockey India League final, where Shrachi Bengal Tigers and SG Pipers will compete for the championship after producing another closely fought encounter.
