Egypt and Nigeria sealed their places in the quarter-finals of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 on Monday, joining Senegal, Mali, Morocco and Cameroon in the last eight of the continental showpiece.
Egypt edge Benin after extra time

At the Grand Stade d’Agadir, Egypt edged past Benin 3–1 after extra time in a tense Round of 16 encounter. Marwan Attia broke the deadlock in the 69th minute before Jodel Dossou forced extra time with a late equaliser for the Cheetahs. Egypt’s experience eventually told, as Yasser Ibrahim restored the lead in the 97th minute and Mohamed Salah sealed qualification deep into stoppage time.
Nigeria overpower Mozambique with commanding display

Nigeria swept aside Mozambique 4–0, delivering one of the most commanding performances of the knockout stage. Ademola Lookman opened the scoring in the 20th minute, followed by a Victor Osimhen brace either side of half-time. Akor Adams added a fourth in the 70th minute to cap a dominant display by the Super Eagles, who never allowed Mozambique into the contest.
Nigeria will face either Algeria or DR Congo in the quarter-finals, with that tie to be decided on Tuesday, while Egypt await the winner of the clash between Ivory coast and Burkina Faso.
With Senegal, Mali, Morocco and Cameroon already through, the quarter-final line-up is rapidly taking shape as Africa’s heavyweight contenders continue their march towards continental glory.
