London: In a dramatic Premier League encounter, Wolverhampton Wanderers produced a spirited second-half comeback to secure a 2-2 draw against Brentford, denying the hosts a crucial win in their push for European qualification.
Trailing by two goals at the Gtech Community Stadium, Wolves showed remarkable resilience, with Tolu Arokodare scoring a late equaliser to complete the turnaround and extend his side’s unbeaten run to three matches.
Brentford looked firmly in control early on, taking the lead in the 22nd minute through Michael Kayode, who powered in a header from close range. The hosts doubled their advantage before half-time when Igor Thiago finished off a well-worked move, continuing his prolific scoring form this season.
However, Wolves responded just before the break as Adam Armstrong pulled one back with a clinical strike, giving the visitors a lifeline heading into the second half.
The momentum shifted after the interval, with Wolves growing in confidence and pressing for an equaliser. Their persistence paid off in the 77th minute when Arokodare rose highest to head home from close range, silencing the home crowd.
Despite the comeback, Wolves remain rooted near the bottom of the table and face an uphill battle to avoid relegation. Yet, their recent performances—including wins over top sides—highlight a renewed fighting spirit.
For Brentford, the draw is a significant setback. Sitting in the top half, they missed an opportunity to strengthen their bid for a European spot, with rivals closing in as the season enters its final phase.
Both sides now turn their attention to their remaining fixtures, with Wolves fighting for survival and Brentford aiming to keep their European dream alive.
