Chennai : The Indian Junior Men’s Hockey Team signed off 2025 with a campaign that quietly but firmly underlined the depth of India’s talent pipeline. Two major international medals — silver at the Sultan of Johor Cup and bronze at the FIH Men’s Junior Hockey World Cup — marked a season of steady progress, pressure performances and valuable learning.
As reported by Hockey India, the standout moment of the year arrived on home soil at the Junior World Cup in Tamil Nadu. In the third-place playoff, India produced a stirring comeback to defeat Argentina 4–2, scoring four unanswered goals after trailing 0–2 late in the contest. The turnaround reflected not just skill, but composure under pressure.
Earlier in the season, India impressed at the Sultan of Johor Cup, finishing runners-up after a closely fought final against Australia. The team registered strong results throughout the tournament, showcasing tactical discipline and resilience against top junior sides.
Hockey India credited the team’s consistency to extensive preparatory camps and exposure tours, which helped the players settle into defined roles and build cohesion. The governing body noted that several players stepped up across competitions, contributing goals, defensive solidity and leadership at key moments.
“The way this group handled challenging situations across tournaments shows how far our junior programme has come,” Hockey India stated, highlighting the team’s ability to respond under high stakes.
While the medals added shine, the bigger takeaway from 2025 was experience — experience that could soon feed into the senior setup. For India’s junior men, the year was less about celebration and more about confirmation: the next line is forming, and it looks ready.
