Charlotte, USA – Kon Knueppel may have ended the night on the losing side, but the Charlotte Hornets rookie still walked away with history in his hands as the Cleveland Cavaliers edged past the Hornets 139–132 in a thrilling NBA contest.
According to BBC Sport, Knueppel became the fastest player in NBA history to reach 100 career three-pointers, achieving the milestone in just 29 games, a new league record. The previous benchmark stood at 41 games.
The 21-year-old guard knocked down five three-pointers on the night and finished with 20 points, underlining his growing reputation as one of the league’s most dangerous young shooters. “It’s special,” Knueppel said after the game, as reported by BBC Sport, “but I’d trade the record for a win any day.”
Despite Knueppel’s milestone, Cleveland had too much firepower. Donovan Mitchell led the Cavaliers with 30 points, while Darius Garland added 27 points and 10 assists, steering the visitors to a much-needed victory after recent setbacks, BBC Sport reported.
Charlotte stayed competitive throughout, with LaMelo Ball contributing 23 points and nine assists, but defensive lapses in the closing minutes proved costly.
For Knueppel, however, the night marked a breakthrough moment. In a league defined by shooting, the Hornets rookie is already setting standards — and doing it at record speed.
