Singapore’s fencing dominance at the 2025 Southeast Asian Games continued as both Amita Berthier and Maxine Wong advanced to the women’s foil final, guaranteeing the Republic a gold medal in the event. With two of the nation’s top foilists booked into the championship match, Singapore secured another top podium finish in Bangkok, adding to its growing medal tally from the Games.
Berthier, a two-time Olympian, staged a remarkable comeback in her semi-final after trailing 8-14 to win 15-14 and clinch her spot in the final. Wong also overcame her own challenges to qualify, ensuring the all-Singapore showdown.
Their achievement follows strong performances from Singapore’s fencing squad throughout the competition, where the team has already collected multiple gold medals across different categories.
This success highlights Singapore’s continued strength in fencing at the SEA Games, reflecting both individual skill and depth across the sport.
