LUCKNOW — Top-seeded Indian pair Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand have powered into the women’s doubles final of the Syed Modi International 2025, continuing their fight for back-to-back glory at the BWF World Tour Super 300 event.
Finalists with Purpose
In Saturday’s semifinal showdown at the Babu Banarasi Das Indoor Stadium, Lucknow, Treesa and Gayatri defeated the Malaysian duo Ong Xin Yee and Carmen Ting in straight games — 21-11, 21-15 — showcasing crisp net play, sharp placement, and composed court control throughout.
The win was more than just a pass into the final — it was a statement. This is their second tournament back after Gayatri returned from a shoulder-injury layoff, and the pair has clearly found their rhythm.
With prior credentials including a title at Syed Modi in 2024, they now have their eyes on defending the crown.
Road to the Final: Grit, Comebacks & Consistency
Their campaign began with a tough three-game win over Malaysians Cheng Su Hui & Tan Zhing Yi — dropping the first game (19-21), but bouncing back with 22-20, 21-9. It was a hard-fought opener, especially given Gayatri’s recent return to competition after months out with injury.
They then breezed into the semifinals with a straight-sets victory over Turkey’s Bengisu Erçetin / Nazlican İnci (21-15, 21-16).
Throughout, the duo’s chemistry — blending Treesa’s aggression with Gayatri’s tactical control — has drawn praise. It marks a refreshing resurgence after periods of struggle and inconsistency.
In the final, Treesa and Gayatri will face the Japanese pair Kaho Osawa / Mai Tanabe — the eighth seeds in the draw. For the Indians, it’s a chance to defend their 2024 title and reinforce their status as India’s top women’s doubles act.
