Victory Will Inspire Countless: PM Modi Congratulates Women’s Kabaddi Team

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended heartfelt congratulations to the Indian women’s kabaddi team after their triumphant win in the Women’s Kabaddi World Cup, calling their performance a testament to their “grit, skills and dedication.”

India Clinches Second Consecutive World Cup

The Indian women’s kabaddi squad secured the title with a thrilling 35–28 victory over Chinese Taipei in the final held in Dhaka. This win marks their second successive World Cup crown, reinforcing India’s dominance in the sport.

PM Modi Hails Team’s Spirit and Commitment

In a congratulatory post on his social media (X), PM Modi praised the athletes for showcasing outstanding determination and pledged that their success will inspire a new generation. “Their victory will inspire countless youngsters to pursue Kabaddi, dream bigger and aim higher,” he wrote.

Consistent Performance Throughout the Tournament

India’s road to the final was marked by an unbeaten run in the group stages and a dominant semi-final win against Iran, where they triumphed 33–21 to reach the championship match. The tournament featured 11 countries, underlining the rapid global growth of women’s kabaddi.

Coaches and Experts Applaud Team’s Excellence

Former India player and Pro Kabaddi coach Ajay Thakur lauded the squad, calling the win a proud moment for the country and pointing to the increasing global appeal of women’s kabaddi. Haryana Steelers’ coach Manpreet Singh also praised the unity and teamwork shown by the team throughout the tournament.

A Milestone for Women’s Kabaddi in India

PM Modi’s message emphasized that the achievement isn’t just about winning a trophy — it represents a powerful narrative for young girls across India. The World Cup success, he noted, has the potential to significantly boost interest in kabaddi and encourage more participation at the grassroots level.

What’s Next: The Indian women’s khabaddi team is now expected to build on this momentum, leveraging their World Cup win to further professionalise the sport and inspire future generations.
