Bhubaneswar: Elliot Daly is set to return to England’s starting XV for the upcoming Test against Argentina, marking his first appearance since suffering a broken arm during the British & Irish Lions tour earlier this year. The wing, known for his versatility across the backline, has been out of competitive rugby for around four and a half months.
Coach Steve Borthwick has made six changes to the England team for the match, including Daly’s recall on the wing alongside centre Henry Slade. The inclusion of Daly is seen as a significant boost for England, bringing both experience and flexibility to a backline impacted by injuries to Tom Roebuck and Ollie Lawrence.
England will look to continue their impressive autumn run, having recently beaten New Zealand 33-19. Borthwick emphasised the challenge posed by the Pumas, describing Argentina as physically and emotionally tough opponents capable of challenging the best.
Daly’s return is not only a testament to his recovery but also a strategic move to strengthen England’s attack and tactical options. Fans will be keen to see how quickly he settles back into Test rugby and what impact he can have against a resilient Argentine side.
Starting XV for England vs Argentina: Freddie Steward; Immanuel Feyi-Waboso; Henry Slade; Fraser Dingwall; Elliot Daly; George Ford (vice-captain); Ben Spencer; Ellis Genge (vice-captain); Luke Cowan-Dickie; Asher Opoku-Fordjour; Maro Itoje (captain); Alex Coles; Guy Pepper; Sam Underhill; Ben Earl.
