Mumbai & Visakhapatnam:
In a dramatic day at the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, India and Bangladesh were forced to share points after relentless rain washed out their encounter in Navi Mumbai, while England sealed a commanding win over New Zealand in Visakhapatnam to confirm their semi-final spot.
Rain Denies India A Full Result
India’s hopes of ending their group campaign with a victory were thwarted by uncooperative weather at the Dr. DY Patil Stadium. After restricting Bangladesh to just 119 for 9, thanks to a disciplined bowling performance led by Radha Yadav (3/30), India made a strong start in their chase. Openers Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma put on an unbeaten 57-run partnership in 8.4 overs before heavy rain returned, forcing the match to be abandoned.
With the washout, India finished the league stage with seven points, securing fourth place and a semi-final berth. Bangladesh ended their campaign seventh, with three points from seven games.
England Dominate In Visakhapatnam
Meanwhile, England showcased clinical precision against New Zealand, cruising to an eight-wicket victory. The English spin attack, spearheaded by Linsey Smith (3/30), dismantled New Zealand’s batting lineup, bowling them out for 169.
Chasing the modest target, Amy Jones anchored the innings with a composed 86 not out, guiding England home with more than ten overs to spare. The win not only boosted their confidence but also confirmed their place among the top semi-final contenders.
Semi-Finals Confirmed
With the group stage concluded, the semi-final line-up is set:
England vs South Africa on October 29
India vs Australia on October 30
