Smriti Mandhana And Jemimah Rodrigues Chill Out Before WPL Final

Vadodara:
On the eve of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) final, Indian cricket stars Smriti Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues chose calm over chaos, taking time to relax and reset before leading their respective teams into the season’s biggest clash.

Despite the high stakes of the title match, both players emphasised the importance of mental balance after a long and demanding tournament. Rather than engaging in intense last-minute training sessions, Mandhana and Rodrigues focused on staying relaxed, trusting their preparation, and keeping their minds clear ahead of the final.

Mandhana, who has led her side with consistency throughout the season, highlighted the value of switching off briefly before a crucial game. She noted that a composed mindset helps players respond better under pressure and allows them to enjoy the occasion instead of being overwhelmed by it.

Rodrigues echoed similar sentiments, stressing that overthinking before a final can be counterproductive. She underlined the importance of backing instincts and maintaining a positive environment within the squad, especially after weeks of continuous matches and travel.
Off the field, the long-standing friendship between Mandhana and Rodrigues was on full display. Though they will be rivals once the match begins, their easy camaraderie before the final reflected the growing culture of mutual respect and support within women’s cricket.

As anticipation builds for the WPL final, the relaxed approach adopted by two of India’s leading cricketers offers a reminder that success at the highest level depends not only on skill and strategy, but also on clarity of mind. When the players step onto the field, the calm preparation may prove just as vital as the shots played and wickets taken.
