Odisha’s Priyanka Pradhan from Sambalpur has brought immense pride to the state and the nation by contributing to India’s gold medal triumph in the Girls’ Kabaddi event at the 3rd Asian Youth Games 2025 in Bahrain.
India completed a dominant kabaddi double, with both the Under-18 boys’ and girls’ teams winning gold while remaining unbeaten throughout the tournament.
The Indian girls’ team crushed Iran 75–21 in the final — the largest victory margin in a Youth Games kabaddi final since 2013. Raider Neha Patel led the scoring with 28 points, while defender Riya Singh anchored a rock-solid defence as India finished the tournament with an astonishing 312 points scored and only 89 conceded across five matches.
The boys’ team edged Iran 35–32 in a tense title clash, holding their nerve in the final minutes to seal the championship.
The clean sweep at Isa Sports City in Riffa reaffirmed India’s dominance in Asian youth kabaddi and significantly boosted the country’s medal tally at the Games.
Sports lovers in Odisha have hailed Priyanka’s performance as a testament to the state’s rising sporting talent and a source of inspiration for young athletes across the region.
