Bhubaneswar: Odisha para athlete Suchitra Parida marked an impressive debut at the World Para Athletics Championships 2025, finishing sixth in the Women’s Javelin Throw F55/56 final.
Competing against the world’s best, Parida produced a Personal Best (PB) of 18.29m, a performance that underlined her steady progress on the international stage.
Reflecting on her effort, she said, “I didn’t perform at my best, but I am happy with my sixth-place finish. My focus now shifts to the 2025 World Abilitysport Games in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand (November 17–24), where I will strive to deliver an even stronger performance for Odisha and India.”
Her achievement drew praise from the Para Sports Association of Odisha, which hailed her as an inspiration for upcoming athletes in the state.
Though outside the medal bracket, Parida’s PB in her maiden World Championship final signals a bright future for the thrower as she continues to rise in international para athletics.
