Celebrated Career In Women’s Football
Beard’s coaching journey began with Millwall Lionesses in 2008, followed by a move to Chelsea Women in 2009. He went on to achieve historic success at Liverpool Women, guiding the club to back-to-back Women’s Super League titles in 2013 and 2014.
He also managed Boston Breakers in the United States, West Ham United Women, Bristol City Women, and later returned to Liverpool, where he secured their promotion back to the top flight. In 2025, he briefly worked with Burnley Women.
Tributes Pour In From Across The Game
Tributes have been widespread, with players, colleagues, and rival managers describing Beard as an inspirational figure who dedicated his life to advancing women’s football. Everton Women’s manager Brian Sorensen shared his condolences, recalling Beard’s lasting influence on players he had once coached.
Former players and pundits praised his professionalism, kindness, and the mentorship he provided throughout his career. Broadcasters also paid tribute, with emotional moments observed on television and social media.
