Bhubaneswar : Chennaiyin FC have made a bold and historic move by agreeing to terms with Clifford Miranda to become their chief coach, making him the first-ever Indian domestic head coach in the club’s Indian Super League history. This appointment comes after Chennaiyin parted ways with their previous coach and took a temporary operational pause.
Miranda, 42, is no stranger to success. As interim head coach of Odisha FC, he led them to their first major title—the 2023 Indian Super Cup—making him the first Indian coach to win a major ISL trophy. His resume also includes a league title win with FC Goa as interim head coach and various assistant coaching roles with top ISL clubs including Mumbai City FC and Mohun Bagan SG.
The former attacking midfielder has also captained the Indian U-23 national team as coach and boasts a decorated playing career with Dempo and the national team, known for his vision and tactical acumen.
After mutually terminating his contract with Mumbai City FC, Miranda is set to bring fresh energy and a domestic perspective to Chennaiyin FC, who are keen on revival and strong performance in upcoming competitions.
As Chennaiyin prepares for a new chapter, questions arise: Will Clifford Miranda’s tactical nous and experience translate into silverware? Can he ignite a new winning dynasty for Chennaiyin in Indian football’s top tier?
Fans and analysts alike will be watching closely as Miranda steps into the hot seat, aiming to lead Chennaiyin FC back to glory.
