Rajgir, September 7, 2025 – In a commanding performance, India lifted the Men’s Hockey Asia Cup with a 4-1 demolition of defending champions South Korea at the Rajgir Hockey Stadium. The victory not only ended India’s eight-year title drought but also clinched qualification for the 2026 FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup in Belgium and the Netherlands .
Sukhjeet Singh struck in the opening minute with a brilliant reverse hit, setting the tone early. Dilpreet Singh doubled the lead in the 28th minute and added a second in the 45th after a slick move orchestrated by captain Harmanpreet Singh .
Odisha’s own Amit Rohidas, a stalwart in defense and penalty-corner specialist, calmly converted a penalty corner in the 50th minute to seal the emphatic win . South Korea managed a late consolation goal, but it was too little, too late for the defending champions .
This marks India’s fourth Asia Cup title, following earlier victories in 2003, 2007, and 2017 . The record-breaking win propels them confidently towards the 2026 World Cup, set for August 14–30 in Belgium and the Netherlands .
