Norton, Massachusetts – South Korea’s Kim Sei-young put on a masterclass of golf on Saturday, completing a blistering second-round score of seven-under-par 65 to seize a commanding three-shot lead at the FM Championship. The 32-year-old from Seoul, seeking her first victory in nearly five years, now stands at 14-under 130 for the tournament.
A Dazzling Display of Second-Round Scoring
Returning to TPC Boston after play was halted by storms on Friday, Kim quickly found her rhythm. She began her day by stringing together three consecutive birdies, followed by an eagle at the par-five second hole. Her impressive run continued with two more birdies before a single bogey at the fifth. This spectacular performance allowed her to build a significant cushion over the rest of the field.
The Chase is on for the Top Spot
China’s Miranda Wang is in second place, three strokes behind Kim, with a total score of 133. American rising star Rose Zhang is in third at 134 after a magnificent 64 on Saturday that saw her birdie eight holes. A strong group of contenders are also close behind, including Sweden’s Madelene Sagstrom in fourth at 135. World No. 1 Jeeno Thitikul, Nelly Korda, and British Women’s Open winner Miyu Yamashita are all part of a large group tied for ninth.
Storms and Solitude at TPC Boston
The tournament has been a stop-and-start affair due to Friday’s stormy weather, which led to three different delays and left half the field to finish their rounds on Saturday morning. With the skies now clear, the 74 players who made the cut were scheduled for afternoon tee times in threesomes, hoping to complete the third round before sunset. For Kim, a 12-time LPGA winner, this tournament represents a significant opportunity to end a victory drought that dates back to the Pelican Championship in November 2020.
