India’s women’s rifle shooters shone brightly at the Asian Shooting Championships as Sift Kaur Samra, Anjum Moudgil and Ashi Chouksey combined to clinch the team gold medal in the 50m Rifle 3-Positions event on Tuesday.
Samra Leads the Charge
World record holder and Olympian Sift Kaur Samra produced a stellar 589, while Ashi Chouksey shot 586 and veteran Anjum Moudgil scored 578. Their combined tally of 1753 points helped India edge past Japan (1750) and South Korea (1745) to secure the top podium finish.
Two Indians in Individual Final
Both Samra and Ashi advanced to the individual final after finishing second and fifth in qualification. With compatriot Shriyanka Sadangi competing in the Ranking Points Only (RPO) category despite topping the qualifiers, Samra and Ashi progressed into the final as the first and fourth seeds. RPO shooters remain ineligible for medals.
