Bhubaneswar : Ramesh Budihal carved his name into Indian sporting history by clinching a bronze medal at the 2025 Asian Surfing Championships — the nation’s first-ever individual medal at the prestigious continental event.Competing in the Open Men’s category, Budihal put on an electrifying performance in the final, earning a score of 12.60 points. With precise turns, confident maneuvers, and an unshakable focus, he surged ahead of Indonesia’s Mega Artana, who finished fourth with 9.97 points.
The gold medal was claimed by South Korea’s Kanoa Heejae with an impressive 15.17 points, while Indonesia’s Pajar Ariyana took silver with 14.57 points.Budihal’s achievement marks a breakthrough moment for Indian surfing, highlighting the sport’s rising potential in the country.
