Joaquin Niemann of Chile secured his fourth LIV Golf victory of the season at LIV Golf Virginia on Sunday, carding a final round of 8-under 63 to win by a single stroke over Graeme McDowell and Anirban Lahiri.
Niemann, 26, pulled away from a crowded leaderboard at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club with a crucial run of birdies on holes 14 through 17, ultimately finishing at 15-under 198. This win marks his sixth career LIV victory, adding to his earlier successes this year in Australia, Singapore, and Mexico, as well as his two past PGA Tour titles.
In other notable performances, Bryson DeChambeau, who is preparing to defend his U.S. Open title, shot a 65 to tie for fourth at 13-under alongside Phil Mickelson (65) and Bubba Watson (67). Jon Rahm finished at 10-under after a 68.
The team championship was claimed by the Crushers, led by DeChambeau and Lahiri, who secured their second consecutive team title and a record eighth overall with contributions from Paul Casey and Charles Howell III. DeChambeau proudly declared his team “a beast.”
A highlight of the round was Phil Mickelson’s “vintage Phil” moment, as he executed a remarkable backward chip shot from a steep slope in thick greenside rough for a late-round birdie, a shot DeChambeau lauded as “one of the greatest shots I’ve ever seen.”
