Jaipur : The recently concluded Rajasthan State Ranking Badminton Tournament held at the Sawai Man Singh Indoor Stadium in Jaipur witnessed exceptional performances from emerging badminton talents across the state. This year’s event marked a significant milestone with record-breaking participation and outstanding individual achievements.
Manish Phogat, the top seed in the men’s singles, clinched his maiden men’s singles title in a thrilling final against the unseeded Jaipur player Kartik Jain. After a strong start and a temporary mid-match setback, Manish showcased his resilience and skill, prevailing 21-7, 16-21, 21-8. Manish is a trainee at the prestigious Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy in Bengaluru, highlighting the caliber of training backing his success. Kartik Jain notably caused major upsets, eliminating seeded players en route to the final.
In the women’s singles category, Parul Choudhary, competing in her first Senior State tournament, claimed her maiden title by decisively defeating top seed Suhasi Verma 21-8, 21-8. Parul, an international-level shuttler and a sub-junior Indian team player, demonstrated dominance and poise that promise a bright future.
Another noteworthy winner was Somyaa Bhatnagar, who won the U-19 girls’ singles title after Parul retired in their final match, marking another milestone for Rajasthan’s young talent.
The doubles events also showcased Rajasthan’s ascending badminton prowess. The dynamic young duo Jangjeet Singh Kajla, who bagged a remarkable double crown in the boys’ U-17 and U-19 doubles categories, was a highlight of the tournament. Similarly, the U-19 boys doubles team of Aryan Tyagi and Murli Sharma secured gold, adding to the medals tally for Rajasthan.
The tournament recorded a massive turnout with over 1100 entries, featuring 700 boys and 400 girls from across the state, illustrating growing grassroots enthusiasm and competitive depth. Several national-level players participated, intensifying the competition and raising the overall standard of play.
