Changzhou, China – The China Open 2025 concluded with a resounding display of dominance from the home nation’s shuttlers, as Chinese players swept nearly all categories. Shi Yuqi and Wang Zhiyi clinched the prestigious men’s and women’s singles titles, respectively, much to the delight of the home crowd in Changzhou.
Home Success in Singles and Doubles
In the men’s singles final, Shi Yuqi faced a challenging all-Chinese encounter against compatriot Wang Zhengxing. After dropping the first game, Shi Yuqi rallied with exceptional skill and composure to secure the title with a comeback victory of 14-21, 21-14, 21-15 in a hard-fought 64-minute match.
The women’s singles final saw a more decisive performance from Wang Zhiyi, who showcased her supremacy over fellow Chinese shuttler Han Yue. Wang Zhiyi delivered a dominant display, winning in straight games with scores of 21-8, 21-13 in just 39 minutes, securing her home title convincingly.
The women’s doubles also featured an all-Chinese final, with the top-ranked duo of Liu Shengshu and Tan Ning emerging victorious. They defeated their compatriots Jia Yifan and Zhang Shuxian in a tense three-game battle, 24-22, 17-21, 21-14, after 69 minutes of intense play. Similarly, the mixed doubles title remained within China, as Feng Yanzhe and Huang Dongping overcame Jiang Zhenbang and Wei Yaxin 23-21, 21-17 in 47 minutes, completing a strong showing in the doubles categories.
Indonesia Breaks Chinese Monopoly in Men’s Doubles
The only category where the home nation did not clinch the gold was the men’s doubles. Indonesia’s formidable pair of Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Shohibul Fikri delivered an impressive performance to triumph over Malaysia’s Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik. The Indonesian duo secured the title with a straight-games victory, 21-15, 21-14, showcasing their prowess on the international stage amidst the Chinese dominance.
