Bhubaneswar : Indian pole vaulter Dev Meena has stunned the athletics world yet again by breaking the men’s national pole vault record for a third time this year, soaring to a new height of 5.40 meters during the qualifying round at the 2025 FISU World University Games in Germany. The 20-year-old first set the national mark at 5.32m at the National Games in February, broke it again with 5.35m at the Federation Cup, and now bettered himself, clearing 5.40m in Germany—a feat that qualified him for the event final and cemented his status as India’s top pole vault talent.
Meena’s achievement is not just about numbers; it is a story of consistent progress and rare dominance for someone so young, as he already holds India’s national records in U-18, Junior, and Senior categories. Hailing from Madhya Pradesh and having won a bronze at the Asian U20 Championships, Meena’s rise signals new hope for Indian athletics in a highly competitive discipline, making him one of the most promising figures on the national sports stage in 2025.
