Dhaka– Bangladesh successfully defended their SAFF U-20 Women’s Championship crown by delivering a commanding 4-0 victory against Nepal in the tournament’s final match, held at Bashundhara Kings Arena. This emphatic win secured Bangladesh’s fifth title in the history of the competition and capped off an unbeaten tournament campaign, finishing with a perfect 18 points from six straight wins.
Mosammat Sagorika was the standout performer for the hosts as she scored all four goals, including a first-half opener in the 8th minute and a second-half hat-trick at the 51st, 57th, and 77th minutes. Returning from a three-match suspension, Sagorika’s clinical finishing and pace dismantled Nepal’s defense, delighting the home crowd and quashing Nepal’s hopes of their maiden title.
Earlier in the tournament, Bangladesh had already edged Nepal with a narrow 3-2 victory, which proved decisive in the final standings. Nepal ended the championship second with 12 points, recording notable wins such as two victories over Sri Lanka and convincing wins against Bhutan. Nevertheless, their consistent runner-up finishes continued, having previously lost to Bangladesh in the 2018 and 2023 finals.
The tournament featured four South Asian teams—Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, and Sri Lanka—competing in a double round-robin format from July 11 to 21, 2025. Bangladesh, as hosts, leveraged their home advantage and strong squad depth to dominate throughout, culminating in this comprehensive triumph.
Bangladesh’s aggressive style, combined with clinical finishing from Sagorika and solid team cohesion under coach Golam Rabbani Choton, reinforced their supremacy in South Asian women’s youth football for the fifth time, underscoring their regional dominance in this category.
