Bhubaneswar : Cricket is set to return to the Olympics at Los Angeles 2028 in the T20 format, with only six teams competing in both men’s and women’s events. However, with a limited number of slots and only one Asian team expected to qualify directly—likely based on ICC T20I rankings—the chances of both India and Pakistan making it to the Games are slim.
The qualification process is still being finalized by the ICC, with debate over using rankings, regional quotas, or a global qualifier. Host nation USA is expected to receive automatic entry, while other teams will compete for the remaining few spots. Given the restriction, a much-anticipated India-Pakistan clash at LA 2028 appears highly unlikely unless special provisions are made.
