Ishaan and Arjun Shine in MRF Formula 2000 at National Racing Championship

Chennai, July 20: The opening round of the MRF MMSC FMSCI Indian National Car Racing Championship 2025 witnessed thrilling action at the Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore, where teenagers Ishaan Madesh and Arjun Chheda emerged as standout performers in the MRF Formula 2000 category.

Young Guns Share the Spotlight in Formula 2000

Sixteen-year-olds Ishaan Madesh from Bengaluru and Arjun Chheda from Pune stole the limelight with one race win each in the premier single-seater category. Arjun claimed the first race win on Saturday, showing composure and consistency, while Ishaan bounced back to dominate Sunday’s race with clinical precision.

The duo’s performances signaled a promising new generation of Indian motorsport talent making waves on the national stage.

Competitive Field in Formula 1600

The MRF Formula 1600 category also witnessed rising stars assert their prowess. Arjun Nair (20) and Nigel Abraham Thomas (19), both hailing from Bengaluru, claimed victories in their respective races. On Saturday, Pune’s Sai Shiva Sankaran (16) conquered wet track conditions to take the win, showcasing skill and confidence.

Bhuvan Bonu Impresses in Formula LGB 1300

Fifteen-year-old Bhuvan Bonu from Bengaluru showcased exceptional racecraft by winning both the Open and Junior categories in the Formula LGB 1300 class. Unfortunately, further proceedings were cut short due to heavy rainfall, but Bhuvan’s early dominance made a lasting impression.

Drama in Indian Touring Cars

The Indian Touring Cars category saw veteran Biren Pithawalla from Mumbai secure Race-3 victory after Arjun Balu, who appeared on course for a clean sweep, suffered a car misfire that dashed his hopes. Balu had earlier won the first two races of the round.

A Promising Start to the Season

With a mix of experience and emerging youth talent, the opening round set the tone for a fiercely competitive season ahead. The performances of young racers like Ishaan, Arjun, and Bhuvan have already captured attention, as fans look forward to more electrifying action in the upcoming rounds.

The next round of the championship is scheduled for later this season, with expectations running high for continued youth dominance and thrilling on-track battles.
