Bhubaneswar : An all-women Indian Masters Ultimate frisbee team is all set to make history at the upcoming World Beach Ultimate Championships (WBUC), showcasing the growing presence of women in a sport traditionally dominated by mixed or male teams. This marks India’s first-ever all-women Masters team, highlighting both the passion and progress of women athletes in Ultimate frisbee.
Based out of Chennai, a major hub for Ultimate in India, the team comprises experienced players who have been actively promoting the sport locally and nationally. The Masters category is for players over 33 years old, underscoring that age is no barrier to competitive passion and success.
Ultimate frisbee, a fast-paced, non-contact team sport played with a flying disc, is gaining momentum in India, especially on beaches and urban parks. The Indian team’s participation at WBUC not only elevates India’s profile in the global Ultimate community but also inspires more women to take up the sport with confidence.
With dedication and teamwork, these women aim to compete with world-class teams, proving that Indian women can excel on any international stage, regardless of the sport. Their journey is a beacon for aspiring female athletes and a step forward in promoting gender equality in Indian sports.
