Railways Dominates SAI NCoE Bhopal, Navy Overcomes IOC in Murugappa Gold Cup

Chennai: Railways showcased a dominant performance to blank Sports Authority of India (NCoE) Bhopal 4-0, while Indian Navy held their nerve to edge past Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) 3-2 in thrilling league matches of the 95th All-India MCC-Murugappa Gold Cup hockey tournament held at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium on Tuesday.

Railways’ Ruthless Attack Proves Too Much for SAI NCoE

Railways were in top form against a young SAI side that struggled to keep pace with the seasoned opponents. Harman Singh opened the scoring in the sixth minute, setting the tone for Railways’ attack. Mohammad Amir Khan doubled the lead in the second quarter before Sheshe Gowda and Vikas Pal rounded off the tally in the second half. The 4-0 win highlighted Railways’ cohesion and sharp finishing.

Navy Clinches Nail-Biter Against IOC

In the second match of the day, Indian Navy pulled off a dramatic 3-2 victory over a spirited IOC outfit. After leading 2-0 with goals from Amon Mirash Tirkey and Pardeep Mor, Navy was pegged back by quick goals from IOC’s Talwinder Singh and Roshan Minz, leveling the game at 2-2. However, S.K. Rohit struck the decisive goal in the final quarter to seal the win for Navy, ensuring their spot in the knockout phase.

What’s Next

With these results, both Railways and Indian Navy have bolstered their campaigns heading into the semifinals. The Murugappa Gold Cup continues to deliver competitive and high-quality matches, with several teams still in contention for the coveted title.
