London : The third Test match between India and England is being played at Lord’s Cricket Ground, which is famous for its unique slope.
The Lord’s slope is a 2.5-metre (about 8 feet) diagonal drop running from the Pavilion End to the Nursery End. This feature has existed since the ground was built in 1814. The slope creates a big challenge for both batters and bowlers. Bowlers find that deliveries from the Pavilion End move into right-handers and away from left-handers, while from the Nursery End, the ball moves away from right-handers and into left-handers. Batters must adjust their stance and balance to cope with the extra movement caused by the slope.
This match is crucial as India and England are locked in a competitive Test series, currently level at 1-1 after India’s dominant win in the second Test at Edgbaston. This historic and unique slope is a key factor in today’s exciting India vs England Test at Lord’s.
