Jaipur, June 26, 2025 — Rajasthan has been officially announced as the host for the 5th edition of the Khelo India University Games (KIUG), scheduled to take place in November 2025. The decision marks a major milestone for the state, which will be welcoming thousands of university athletes from across India for one of the country’s largest multi-sport events for student-athletes.
The announcement was made by Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, who confirmed that Poornima University and University of Rajasthan will serve as the primary hosts. Multiple venues across Jaipur — including the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Vidhyadhar Nagar Stadium, and Jagatpura Shooting Range — will be used for competitions, training, and ceremonies.
Over 4,000 athletes from more than 200 universities are expected to participate, competing in more than 20 disciplines, ranging from athletics, swimming, and boxing to indigenous sports such as mallakhamb and yogasana.
Speaking at the announcement, Minister Mandaviya noted, “Rajasthan has shown great promise in recent years in sports infrastructure development. This edition of KIUG will further encourage grassroots talent and fuel India’s Olympic ambitions.”
This will be the first time Rajasthan hosts the Khelo India University Games. The previous edition, held in the northeastern states in 2024, was widely praised for its inclusive approach and regional representation. With Rajasthan’s rich cultural backdrop and modern facilities, expectations are high for a successful and vibrant Games edition.
The Khelo India University Games serve as a crucial platform in India’s sports ecosystem, bridging university-level competition with national and international opportunities. Many athletes scouted at KIUG have gone on to represent India on global stages, including the Commonwealth Games and Asian Games.
Preparations are underway, with state authorities focusing on both logistical arrangements and athlete welfare. The Rajasthan government has assured timely upgrades to sports facilities and pledged strong coordination with universities, security agencies, and health departments.
As November approaches, Jaipur is set to become the new capital of youth sport in India — a moment of pride not just for Rajasthan, but for the entire country.
