One of the pre-event favourites, Grenada’s Anderson Peters, had an off day and finished fifth with a throw of 80.29m. Trinidad and Tobago’s Keshorn Walcott took fourth place thanks to a 81.66m throw in his second attempt.
This Paris meet marked Neeraj’s second Diamond League outing of the season — after a stunning opener in Doha, where he shattered the 90m barrier for the first time in his career with a throw of 90.23m, bettering his previous best of 89.94m.
Interestingly, it was also Neeraj’s first Paris Diamond League appearance since 2017, when he was still a junior world champion and had finished fifth with a throw of 84.67m.
The 2025 season has started on a strong note for the Indian superstar, who kicked things off with a win in an invitational meet in Potchefstroom, South Africa, throwing 84.52m.
Next up for Neeraj is the prestigious Ostrava Golden Spike meet in the Czech Republic on June 24. He’ll then return to India to host and compete in the first-ever Neeraj Chopra Classic in Bengaluru on July 5 — a World Athletics Category A event that marks another milestone in his inspiring journey.
