India’s Pranati Nayak added another medal to her collection by winning bronze in the women’s vault at the Asian Artistic Gymnastics Championships held in Jecheon, Korea, on Saturday. This marks her third bronze in the event, having previously medalled in 2019 and 2022.
The 30-year-old gymnast posted scores of 13.666 and 12.866 in her two vaults, averaging 13.466 to secure third place. She finished behind China’s Zhang Yihan, who won gold with a score of 13.650, and Vietnam’s Nguyen Thi Quynh Nhu, who took silver with 13.583.
India’s Protistha Samanta narrowly missed the podium, finishing fourth with a score of 13.016.
In the qualification round, Pranati had placed fourth with a score of 13.086, while Protistha qualified in eighth place with 12.716.
In the junior women’s competition, Avantika Negi made history by becoming the first Indian to qualify for the uneven bars final, scoring 10.333.
