Bhubaneswar : Indian women’s hockey forward Deepika Sehrawat, aged 21, made history by winning the prestigious Poligras Magic Skill Award 2024-25, becoming the first Indian ever to receive this global fan-voted honour. This accolade recognises the most creative and skilful moment of the FIH Hockey Pro League season.
Deepika earned worldwide acclaim for her spectacular solo goal against the world No. 1 Netherlands during the Bhubaneswar leg of the 2024-25 Pro League. Trailing 0-2, she embarked on a breathtaking run along the left flank, dribbled past multiple defenders, lifted the ball deftly over a defender’s stick, and struck a precise finish past the goalkeeper to open India’s scoring. The match ended 2-2 after regular time, with India eventually winning in a shootout.
Hailing from Hisar, Haryana, Deepika has steadily risen through the ranks—showcasing immense talent from her youth career to her senior debut in 2021-22. This award not only marks a milestone for her individual career but also highlights the growing impact of Indian women’s hockey on the world stage.
