Barcelona turned Seville into their own goal festival, overpowering Real Betis 5–2 in a match packed with stunning finishing, momentum swings and controversy. Lamine Yamal supplied the magic, Betis refused to go quietly, and a second-half dismissal helped Barcelona transform a tense contest into a commanding win.

The result extended Barcelona’s perfect start to nine La Liga matches, taking them to 27 points. But beyond the scoreline, it was the way Hansi Flick’s side responded to Betis’s resistance that made this performance stand out.

Lamine Yamal’s Moment of Magic

Barcelona needed only ten minutes to produce the moment of the match. Yamal cut inside from the right and curled a breathtaking left-footed strike into the far top corner, leaving the Betis goalkeeper with little chance.

It was a goal that showcased the teenager’s confidence and extraordinary ability to make difficult finishes look effortless. Yet Barcelona’s night was far from comfortable.

Real Betis hit back in the 27th minute through Valentín Gómez, who finished a move involving Pablo Fornals. The equaliser briefly unsettled the visitors, but Barcelona found another gear before half-time. Rodri restored the lead in the 41st minute, converting Fermín López’s delivery to make it 2–1.

Betis Fight Back, Then Everything Changes

Barcelona struck again six minutes after the restart. Yamal turned provider, setting up Gabriel Jesus in the 51st minute to extend the lead to 3–1.

Betis answered almost immediately. Abdessamad Ezzalzouli scored in the 53rd minute, bringing the hosts back to 3–2 and raising the prospect of another dramatic twist.

Then came the turning point. Marc Bernal was sent off in the 54th minute following an incident involving Yamal, leaving Betis with ten players at a crucial stage.

Barcelona wasted little time taking advantage. Eric García scored in the 62nd minute to restore the two-goal cushion, before Dani Olmo struck in the 81st minute to complete the 5–2 victory.

Five Goals, Five Scorers: Barcelona’s Attack Explodes

Yamal may have stolen the headlines, but Barcelona’s biggest strength was the number of players who contributed to the scoreline. Rodri, Gabriel Jesus, Eric García and Olmo joined the young winger on the scoresheet, giving Betis multiple threats to contain.

Barcelona dominated possession with around 69 per cent of the ball and registered 18 shots, including ten on target. Betis managed six attempts, five of which were on target, showing that the home side could still create danger despite having less of the ball.

The red card made Barcelona’s task easier, but the visitors still needed to convert their advantage into goals. Their sharp finishing after the dismissal ensured Betis had no route back into the contest.

Nine Straight Wins: Is Barcelona Sending a Warning?

With 27 points from nine matches and 39 goals scored, Barcelona’s start to the La Liga season has been formidable. Flick’s side is combining individual brilliance with attacking depth, and opponents are struggling to contain both.

For Betis, the two goals offered moments of hope, but the dismissal and Barcelona’s relentless pressure eventually proved too much. For Barcelona, the victory was another statement of intent.

Yamal provided the highlight, but the bigger message came from the team’s collective firepower. When one attacker is contained, another can deliver. And when the game threatens to become complicated, Barcelona have shown they can find another gear.

The scoreline was emphatic. The warning to La Liga was even louder.
