Isharani Baruah Falls Short In Vietnam Open Final

Rising Indian shuttler Isharani Baruah finished runner-up at the Vietnam Open Super 100 after suffering a straight-game defeat against Thailand’s Sarunrak Vitidsarn in the women’s singles final here on Sunday.

The third-seeded Isharani, ranked 39th in the world, went down 8-21, 15-21 against the unseeded Vitidsarn, who is ranked 106th globally, in a 34-minute contest.

It was the second defeat for the 22-year-old Indian against Vitidsarn, who once again proved too strong in the Vietnam Open final.

Isharani Baruah’s Run To The Final

Isharani had produced a strong campaign to reach the summit clash of the Vietnam Open Super 100.

The Indian secured her place in the final after defeating fellow Indian Rakshitha Sree Ramraj in straight games in the semifinal.

However, she could not maintain that momentum against Vitidsarn, who controlled the final to claim the women’s singles title.

Vitidsarn Denies India Another Title

The defeat brought Isharani’s impressive Vietnam Open campaign to an end as she settled for the runner-up trophy.

For Vitidsarn, the victory marked another significant win over the higher-ranked Indian, extending her head-to-head advantage to 2-0.

Isharani will now look to build on her run in Vietnam as she continues to establish herself among India’s leading women’s singles shuttlers.
