Arsenal Close To Signing Ona Batlle On Free Transfer
Arsenal Women are close to agreeing a deal to sign Ona Batlle on a free transfer this summer.
Deal nearing completion
The 26-year-old defender is out of contract at Barcelona Femen铆 at the end of the season. Talks over a pre-contract agreement have been ongoing, and Arsenal are now confident of securing the move.
Key target in rebuild
Batlle has been identified as a priority signing, especially with Katie McCabe expected to leave. The Spanish international is widely regarded as one of the best full-backs in the world.
More signings expected
Arsenal are also pushing to bring in Georgia Stanway from Bayern Munich Women when her contract expires. Midfielder Geraldine Reuteler is another reported target.
Strategic planning underway
The club鈥檚 revamped recruitment strategy, led by new technical director Jodie Taylor, focuses on securing top talent early and planning across multiple transfer windows.
Return to England
Batlle previously played for Manchester United Women and is keen on a return to the Women鈥檚 Super League. She was part of Spain鈥檚 2023 World Cup-winning squad and helped Barcelona win the Women鈥檚 Champions League in 2024.
Arsenal鈥檚 proactive approach signals a major squad rebuild as they aim to strengthen ahead of the new season.
