Nikhat, Priya & Preeti Power India Into Asian Boxing Semis

India’s women boxers delivered a powerful statement at the 2026 Asian Boxing Championships, with Nikhat Zareen, Priya, and Preeti Pawar storming into the semifinals—securing at least three medals for the country.

Competing in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, the trio showcased composure, dominance, and tactical brilliance to keep India firmly in contention for top honours.

Nikhat Leads the Charge in Style

Two-time world champion Nikhat Zareen once again proved her class with a commanding display in the women’s 51kg quarterfinal.

She sealed a first-round RSC (referee stops contest) victory over Philippines’ Xian Baguhin, barely giving her opponent a chance to settle.

Nikhat now faces her toughest test yet in the semifinals against China’s Olympic gold medallist Wu Yu—a clash that could define her campaign.

Priya Impresses With Tactical Maturity

In the women’s 60kg division, Priya delivered a composed and intelligent performance to defeat China’s Chengyu Yang 4-1.

Her ability to control the pace and execute a clear strategy stood out, underlining her growing confidence on the big stage. She will next take on Mongolia’s Namuun Monkhor for a place in the final.

Preeti Pawar Dominates With Clinical Precision

Meanwhile, Preeti Pawar produced one of the most one-sided wins of the day in the 54kg category.

The young Indian boxer outclassed Mongolia’s Mungun Tsetseg with a 5-0 unanimous decision, highlighting her technical superiority and ring control.

She now heads into the semifinals against Korea’s Im Aeji, setting up another high-stakes showdown.

India’s Medal Surge Gains Momentum

With three semifinalists already confirmed, India has guaranteed at least three medals at the continental event—an encouraging sign for the nation’s boxing depth and consistency.

The performances also reflect India’s growing dominance in women’s boxing, with a mix of experienced champions and rising stars stepping up on the big stage.

The Road Ahead

As the tournament enters its निर्णायक phase, all eyes will be on whether this trio can convert their momentum into gold.

Nikhat’s blockbuster semifinal, Priya’s steady rise, and Preeti’s fearless approach have already made one thing clear—India’s women boxers are not just competing, they are commanding the ring.
